Resort Information

The Right of Admission will apply.

Enter and use of premises & facilities at own risk. Any booking or visit at Amapondo Backpackers Lodge is subject to standard trading terms & insurance indemnity, which you will be required to sign on arrival.

  • It is mandatory for guests to present valid photo identification at the time of check-in (personal data, treated with the highest of confidentially)
  • Check in time is between 14:00 and 21:00 unless prior arrangements have been made
  • Check-in 14H00 – 21H30 pm
  • Check -out 10H00 AM (different times must be agreed upon in advance).
  • We don’t offer a 24h reception service.
  • No visitors will be permitted without permission
  • Visitors are not allowed in the guest rooms.
  • Key & breakage deposit to be paid on arrival, R300 for Rooms & R700 for cottages
  • Refunds are processed within 7 days of departure. (No cash refunds will be issued on departure).
  • Make sure you leave your bank details when receiving the key and paid damage deposit.
  • The guest is liable for any loss or damages (excluding wear and tear) to the property of the establishment.
  • You are liable for any damage caused (whether by the deliberant, negligence, or reckless act to the room(s), or property caused by you or any person in your party.
  • Strictly, NO weapons allowed on property.
  • No fireworks, dangerous materials/substances.
  • R1000 fines will be charged to your account.
  • Purchasing and being in possession of crayfish outside season is illegal and carries a severe fine.
  • Problems connected with abused substances such as drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated, and we respectfully request the “Booking Principle” to take ownership of the Personal Conduct of their guest.
  • Do not block the driveway and park in designated parking bays
  • No loud music is permitted or played out of any car.
  • A speed Limit of 20km/hour is held at all times. There are animals walking on the roads all the time, so please drive slowly.
  • We respectfully request guests to respect out natural environment and wildlife and not to pollute, litter or disturb it.
  • Throw Rubbish in Rubbish bins or keep it in your vehicle
  • Parking while hike: Parking fee R80 per day per car, for the days you not staying with Amapondo Backpackers Lodge.
  • Please fill in the car registration when checking in and to inform staff that you are leaving your car at Amapondo Backpackers while hiking.
  • Staff will show you where to park your car, the keys must be left at reception for emergencies.
  • Payment to be upfront, before you leave for the hike.
  • Unauthorised vehicles on the property will be handed over to law enforcement.
  • No smoking (including, incense burning & oka pipes) inside the room / cottage.
  • Smoking is allowed in common areas BUT please do not litter.
  • Put your cigarette ash and buts in the ashtrays/bins provided.
  • The patio/braai area is a designated smoking area.
  • Respect other non-smokers in the designated area.
  • No smoking on the pool table.

Communal Kitchen

  • Dishes are to be done by the guests themselves (including drying of and placing back of dishes)
  • It is the responsibility of guests to clean and keep the unit tidy, if you are unable to do it yourself, Amapondo staff will do it for you at a rate of R100 per day.
  • Please be considerate to other guests by keeping the common areas tidy and the noise level reasonable.
  • Please leave unwanted food in the unwanted box
    Braai
  • There are 4 communal braai (ask staff to show this areas) areas and we ask that guest keep other guest in consideration when using these areas.
  • Bring your own Fire starter, Grills & Braai tongs.
    Wood
  • Bring your own wood or charcoal.
  • We sometimes sell Braai hard wood, please check with reception.
  • We do not offer a room cleaning service during the stay, unless specifically requested and agreed upon in advance.
  • If you would like to request a cleaner during your stay, please contact reception 24h prior.
  • This will be a separate arrangement, and cleaners can be paid directly in cash.
  • During a longer stay, linen and towels will only be replaced after 7 nights.
  • Ask reception regarding laundry service.
  • Sleep in rooms/beds you have been designated to you.
  • You are responsible for your bedding. Missing/damaged bedding (including WET mattress) is for your account.
  • No visitors allowed in bedrooms and strictly no woman/girlfriends allowed.
  • Silence after 22:00 at night. An R500 Fine may be charged by owner
  • No noise/shouting and running is allowed between 22h00-07h00, please do be considerate when it comes to noise levels.
  • Kindly switch of most lights when not in a room and ensure the outside lights for your Cottage are switched off in the morning
  • No Fire (Braai) on the wooded desks or veranda.
  • Don’t leave your toiletries in the bathroom.
  • Use hot water sparingly, remember there is other guests as well.
  • Please use water sparsely (Keep to a minimum of 5 minutes showers)
  • Please use toilet paper. Do not use newspaper or other types of paper. (septic tank system)
  • Urinate inside the toilet, not next to it
  •  After washing/shower clean up and leave the bathroom tidy for other guests.
  • Please note our sewer system operate on a septic-tank system.
  • Do not flush earbuds, sanitary pads, bottle caps etc down the toilet as it will block the system. Use bins provided.
  • We sell: Toiletries, Insect repellent, Painkillers, Map, Ice, Braai packs, T-shirts, Cigarettes….
  • Breakfast – 08h00-10h00
  • Lunch – 12h00-15h00
  • Dinner – 18h00-20h00
  • Bar – 08h00-22h00
  • We have 24hrs security at the front gate and property.
  • CCTV camaras in designated areas.
  • We do not accept any responsibility for any loss or damages.
  • Although the establishment takes reasonable steps to ensure the safety and security of guests & their possessions, guest retain final responsibility for their own.
  • Please aways keep rooms / cottages locked.

You will forfeit:

  • 100% Of the total booking value, if a booking is cancelled 7 days before arrival.
  • 75% Of the total booking value, if a booking is cancelled 14 days before arrival.
  • 50% Of the total booking value, if a booking is cancelled 21 days before arrival.
  • 25% Of the total booking value, if a booking is cancelled 30 days before arrival.
